Introduction
The spirit of Gros Morne is found in its dramatic, sweeping landscapes – meeting places between land and sea; north and south; our ancient geological past and modern-day footprints.

Its spirit is also found in moments when you look across Western Brook Pond to the sea, catch the play of light over the Tablelands or watch caribou on the barrens.
In 2000, that spirit inspired Anne Meredith Barry, Kevin Major and Tara Bryan to create the limited edition artist book Gros Morne Time Lines. They celebrate Gros Morne by tracing and connecting the national park’s amazing combination of time and beauty.

Gros Morne National Park is a spectacularly beautiful place with a fascinating story to tell. For many, it’s a source of inspiration. Both artists and scientists have long been helping to reveal some of the meanings that to others may be hidden in this special place. We invite you to use Time Lines to explore the work of artists who help us to experience an emotional response to the place, and the work of scientists who have helped to describe and analyze its origin.
